10:30 am ~ Sunday Service
(Live-stream on WPC Facebook page)
Reverence, awe, joy and adoration - these are words which characterize our Sunday morning gathering. A service of the Word from beginning to end, the hour we spend together is shaped by the Bible. Led by a mix of traditional and contemporary instruments, we sing songs and hymns which use Scriptural language and theology, recite historic creeds, pray prayers which are saturated by the words and concerns of Scripture, and listen to Scripture read, taught, and applied. The first Sunday of each month, we remember the drama of our redemption through the celebration of the Lord's Supper. To aid the congregation in our time of worship, we provide a bulletin with the Order of Service. During Phase 4 of Restore Illinois, we are only projecting the order of service on the screens to minimize touching of shared items.
In order to make God's Word clear for all ages, we provide three opportunities during the Sunday service.
1. The Nursery (0-3 years; on hold during Phase 4 of Restore Illinois) is staffed by church volunteers who have completed a background check and committed to abiding by the church's Child Protection Policy. For the child's safety, parents or caregivers must complete a Registration Form prior to checking their child into the Nursery. To save time, you can complete the form online here. The Nursery also includes a spot for nursing mothers to sit and listen to the service with their child.
2. Children's Church, (on hold during Phase 4 of Restore Illinois) an engaging program that adapts the sermon for little hearts and minds, is provided for children aged 4 through 2nd grade. For the child's safety, a Registration Form must be completed prior to children attending the program. Hard copies of the Form are available at the Information Desk in the Lobby. To save time, you can complete the form online here. Right before the Offertory, children are dismissed to meet the Children's Church Coordinator at the back of the sanctuary. The children will be returned to the sanctuary during the closing song so they can rejoin their family.
3. Children's Sermon Notes are provided weekly for children aged 3rd to 6th grade to help them follow and understand the sermon. These can be picked up as you enter the sanctuary from one of the Ushers.
