Worship Definition

In worship, we do the unthinkable: a broken and impure people come into the presence of a Holy, loving, and forgiving God with honesty, reverence, joy, hope, and expectation. We can do this only because of what Jesus has done on our behalf. At Westminster:

1) Worship is what we were made for; yet, the object of worship is God, not us. Therefore, corporate worship is the most real thing we do all week: it's the place where we feel most alive and real. However, corporate worship is not entertainment or a "service" that is provided for us.

2) We come honestly to God without pretending. Therefore, our worship includes struggle, hope, and joy; yet, it is reverent and godly.

3) We ought to worship from our own hearts, and also as the church "contextual" and "historical." Therefore, our worship is personal; yet, it is also corporate. As the church today, our worship is "contemporary" and yet, it is also "traditional" as it reflects the history and traditions of the church through the ages.

4) The Word of God actually meets all of us wherever we are in our spiritual journey. Therefore, our worship is not aimed for any particular preference, but is aimed at God.

We invite you to join us for worship and experience God and His grace along with us at our Worship Service.
