Women's Ministries

Tuesday Morning Bible Study

The purpose of Ladies’ Bible study is to encourage and nurture spiritual growth in the lives of women. This group meets weekly and gathers for the study of God’s word from the reformed perspective. The format of study varies and may include a concentrated study of one book of the Bible, an examination of a particular biblical character or characters, or an exploration of a topic of interest.

We have grown together through the use of a variety of resources including books and study guides written by such authors as Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Tim Keller, John MacArthur, and John Piper.
This group is open to any lady regardless of church affiliation.

We meet on Tuesday mornings at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., September to May. Babysitting is provided for a nominal fee. Our current study is on the Book of Genesis.

If you have any questions, please contact the church office.

 • DVD Series

One Saturday morning a month, women of all ages meet together for  two hours to fellowship, view a message particularly aimed at          developing an understanding of God’s design for women, and discuss    how to put it  into practice. The DVD series generally starts in the fall  and goes through spring.

• Women’s Mentoring Ministry
In obedience to the mandate for women listed in Titus 2:3-5, we encourage older women to become involved in discipleship relationships with younger women. The relationships are meant to develop stronger Christian women. A woman who desires a mentor may be looking to learn what it means to be a Christian, how to study the Bible, how to be a better wife or mother, have a prayer partner, or she may just need an older sister to talk to. A mentor does not have to be a Bible scholar or know all the answers, but must have a heart for the Lord and a love for others. Mentors will be approved by the pastor and/or elders of the church.

If you would like to have a mentor, or are interested in hearing about how you might become involved, please contact  the church office.

• Women of Westminster

Do you have a strong shoulder to lean on or are you the one in need of a strong shoulder and a listening ear?

Women of Westminster is designed to be a semi-annual (winter and summer), three hour gathering of women only, with the intention of connecting us into deeper life giving relationships. Westminster church and school ladies, along with their guests, ages 18 and older, are welcomed.

What to expect:
Light dinner, coffee, tea, and desserts - COME HUNGRY!!
No responsibilities; no family to tend to; just a personal time to be fed and refreshed physically and spiritually. You can attend a teaching session or just socialize.

Winter 2011’s event featured Maggie Schwartz speaking on what it means to be a STURDY woman along with Sharon Swing, coauthor and speaker of the woman’s Listen to My Life teaching series.
Upcoming event will be in summer 2011.

Any questions, please contact the church office.

• F.B.O.W. (For Better Or Worse)

FBOW exists to glorify God in our roles as wives as we grow in holiness and learn to honor our marriage vows.
F.B.O.W. is a set of accountability groups for married women. Each group consists of a maximum of seven women who meet monthly to encourage one another as Christian married women. One woman is designated as the official facilitator of the group, and either the same woman, or another woman in the group is the hostess. Between meetings, each woman has a set of goals to work on. Some goals are for the whole group, while others are specific to each woman and the areas she most needs to work on.

Rules of F.B.O.W.
1. Keep it positive.
2. No coveting/comparing of husbands.
3. No complaining or venting. (There are other times for that.)
4. Keep confidential stuff confidential. (Get permission from your husband before sharing anything that is just between the two of you.)

Colossians 3:18 says, Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.” This is a command that demands our attention, time, energy, and the help of others. We encourage each other in our group to press on, to never to give up, and not to settle within our marriages by examining our hearts and actions as wives.

If you are interested in joining an F.B.O.W. group, please contact the church office.
