Music Ministry

Westminster Praise Band
This is a vocal and instrumental ensemble that regularly leads music in Sunday morning worship. If you are interested in playing guitar, drums, keyboard, an acoustic instrument, or singing with the ensemble, please see the Director of Music, Benjamin Esh.  Rehearsals take place on Sunday mornings at 8:15 am in the sanctuary.

Chancel Choir
This is a mixed voice adult choir that sings regularly in Sunday morning worship and for special services. Anyone in their mid-teens and older who is interested in joining the Chancel Choir should speak to the Director of Music, Ben Esh.  Rehearsals take place on Thursday evenings in the sanctuary from 7:00-8:30 pm.

Chimes Choir
The Chimes Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 6 pm to prepare for semi-monthly participation in Sunday morning services and other special services. This group is open to participants ages 12 and up.  If you are interested in joining the Chimes Choir, please speak with Ben Esh.

 
Westminster Chamber Orchestra
This is a new ensemble that has taken shape this year. Westminster has many skilled instrumentalists within its congregation that did not have many ministry opportunities in the past. Many musicians from the church have joined, and today about 90 percent of the group is populated with musicians that attend Westminster. This also has been a great opportunity for the youth of Westminster to serve as the orchestra is filled with many college and high school students from around the Elgin area. The group typically has two rehearsals prior to the Sunday on which they play.

Men’s Choir
This is a four part men’s ensemble that sings periodically for Sunday morning worship and special services. Rehearsals take place on Sunday mornings following the worship service as required. Participants will be contacted prior to rehearsals and an announcement will be made in the bulletin. All men, teens and older, who are interested in singing with the Men’s Choir should speak with Ben Esh.

Women’s Ensemble
The counterpart to the Men’s Chorus, this group also meets on Sunday mornings following worship to rehearse for occasional participation in Sunday morning services. All ladies, teens and older, are invited to join.  Please see Ben Esh if you are interested in singing with this group.

Soloists
There are many in our congregation who, for various reasons, are unable to commit to any of the above ensembles, but are vocally or instrumentally trained. If you are one of these individuals, and you are interested in singing/playing a prelude, offertory, or postlude, please contact Ben Esh.
