The Men’s Ministry is committed to: • Learning and applying God's Word • Sharing / Praying • Holding each other Accountable • Mutual Mentoring
With the following goals: • Grow in our walk as Godly men, husbands, and dads • Develop Biblical leadership qualities • Develop God centered relationships with other men • Show the JOY of Christ to an otherwise dark world
Key Verses: Romans 8:29a “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son…”
Ecclesiastes: 4:9,10 and 12b “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up. .. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Jonathan helped David find strength until David could find strength in the Lord alone as found in 1 Samuel 23.
The Men of Westminster Ministry works at three levels:
Men's Events: These are outreach focused and open to all males who are out of high school. These events in the past have included our Annual Rib Fest, Gym Night, and Baggo Tournament along with Westminster Christian School. These events allow men to get to know each other outside the sometimes brief Sunday morning experience. The food is always good, the laughs come easy, but the impact of the conversations last awhile.
Service Activities: The book of James tells us, "As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead." (James 2:26). This is a reminder that we can not live just for ourselves, we need to reach outside our group and demonstrate grace in our lives. The Men of Westminster participate on their own with tutoring underprivileged children, visiting widows and the elderly, serving at soup kitchens, and delivering meals to needy families. As a men's group, we have help families through the moving process, performed a garage makeover, grilled for school picnics, and participated in church work days.
Bible Study: At the heart of the Men of Westminster is the ongoing studying of God's word in the community of men with the hope of heart change. Examples of books studied are: Power of a Praying Husband, Prodigal God, Be Anxious for Nothing.Counterfeit Gods. We have explored the subjects of money, passivity, and the basics of reformed theology. The Bible lesson is followed by a time of prayer.
The Men's Bible Study meets the first three Saturdays of the month from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.
Contact the church office if you have questions or want to get involved.
